September 14, 2024. Long bike ride today; this was right near the end, in evening. Visited both Dunvegan and Maxville. So warm! https://flic.kr/p/2qgCjQo

Tracks

Image
February 20, 2024. Where the tracks cross the side road, just outside town, as seen on my daily walk. It wasn't quite as dark as depicted here but I wanted to emphasize the clouds and the afternoon sunset. Today was another full day working on my literature review; it's almost done and really is in the process of final crafting. Four days till the first spring training ball game. https://flic.kr/p/2pzk92R

The 915

Image
October 4, 2021. Running way behind uploading these photos of the day. catching up. The reason is that today (Monday) was the start of my online course, which has swallowed most of my time as I whip a 2018 version of the MOOC database into 2021 shape. This meanwhile is a quick photo of a regular occurrence outside, the passenger train from Ottawa to Montreal (dig the new modern engine, the 915). https://flic.kr/p/2mzobT7

8600

May 16, 2020. This is CP engine 8600 pulling a very long train through eastern Ontario near Avonmore. Today I caught up on some email and did a brisk 50k ride to Avonmone and back. https://flic.kr/p/2j2Gwx7

7:02 to Montreal

March 28, 2017. The office computer died today - looks like a memory error, in which case it's easily fixed by swapping memory cards. But it's Shared Services Canada that has to do that, so it could be any time between now and December. Fortunately I still have the laptop, though it happened to be at home today. Pictured here is the 7:02 train as it passes our house - you have to look for it through the trees. I would imagine some people would find being this close to the train annoying, but I love our trains and would miss them. Train whistles make me feel at home - you never hear them in the city,
