December 19, 2024. I've had a gap in my smile for a very long time now, but today I got my implant. I felt a bit like a bicycle getting a new rack installed. November 30, 2024. We had a much smaller Christmas Festival than usual this year, but there was still road hockey. Also chili dogs and other treats. February 20, 2024. Where the tracks cross the side road, just outside town, as seen on my daily walk. It wasn't quite as dark as depicted here but I wanted to emphasize the clouds and the afternoon sunset. Today was another full day working on my literature review; it's almost done and really is in the process of final crafting. February 6, 2024. This is the Nation River about 5 km from Casselman. I stopped to get a photo while dropping Andrea off at the dentist. January 15, 2024. Frosty cold today but these Tesla charging stations are working fine. I was up at 3:00 a.m. for my meeting, got a bunch of work done in the early hours, and went to the local Metro, where these power stations are located, in order to get some milk. January 14, 2024. This was the back ward today - bare trees and plenty of snowfall. A pretty good storm is brewing. I stayed indoors all day and worked on my European project, making a ton of progress. I'm also waking up early because I have a 4:00 a.m. meeting tomorrow. December 2, 2023. This goalie posed for me while participating in the 4-on-4 road hockey tournament at the Casselman Christmas Fair today. We walked down, I had some focaccia, and we visited the Swiss Bakery seasonal store as well as a number of booths. April 1, 2023. It actually got pretty warm today, especially in the bright sunshine, and I was able to get out for an actual bicycle ride. It was pretty slow since I'm warming up the new bike on gravel, and the shoulders were soft from all the rain and snow. No complaints, though. https://flic.kr/p/2oqMsXE

March 29, 2023. This is the Nation River near the 417, seen on a quick noon-hour bike ride (taking advantage of a few warm hours while we had them). January 24, 2023. This is just an ordinary house I see when I go on my walk, but it's funny how a few trees and some snow make any old house a postcard picture. January 7, 2023. It took a few days, but the birds have discovered we put food in the feeder again. We had stopped over the summer because of avian flu, and we didn't want them gathering all together. This is a female cardinal; we haven't seen the male yet, but we hold out hope. January 6, 2023. We had freezing rain yesterday and today with the result that there's a layer of ice over everything. It makes walking treacherous but I was till out for my lunchtime walk. January 5, 2023. It hasn't occurred to me to try to make my own hot sauce, but Andrea picked this up in the Costco yesterday and it seems to me like it would be worth a try. I'll report on any results. I've been back to work all week, focusing mostly on instructional strategies, but also trying to make node.js work in a cloud environment using ssl. November 7, 2022. Charlemagne is a very long cat, which means that when he gets up on hind legs (as he often does) he's a very tall cat... almost as tall as the railing. Today was a day for catching up on a mountain of work after being sick for three days or so. https://flic.kr/p/2nZbTTr

January 23, 2021. This is an angel at the cathedral in the centre of town. I went for a short walk today instead of the usual hike, because of the cold weather. October 8, 2021. This is a very healthy spider sheltered just outside the downstairs bathroom window. I liked the way just the centre strands of the web were lit up by the sun. Tough day today as I couldn't figure out why my presentations weren't displaying properly - and were even crashing my course website!
