Milkweed

Image
June 29, 2020. We have a thriving milkweed crop in our back yard and we're waiting for the annual arrival of the monarch butterflies, which should be any time now. Today I recovered from the moderate exertions of yesterday, spending a good part of the day in meetings and the rest in background reading. https://flic.kr/p/2jgzYdv

Bloomington

Image
June 28, 2020. Illness has interrupted my daily photos, but here's one from my bike ride on June 28, 2020 from Casselman to Maxville and Warina. This is a forested stretch on a road that was new to me on the way back. https://flic.kr/p/2jgDwWz

Sleeping in the Back Yard

Image
June 20, 2020. This is my third night in a row sleeping in my back yard, because without air conditioning it's much more comfortable than sleeping inside the house. This was my view. In fact, I have been getting excellent sleep outside. Today I spent most of the day making my video for the EDEN conference, which would normally be pretty quick, but involved condensing a 32 page paper into a 15 minute presentation. https://flic.kr/p/2jdX2eL

Forest Clearing

Image
June 19, 2020. It's hard to spot, but a wide path has been mown through this forest, leading to a small creek on the other side. It's one of my regular stops on bike rides, about 2 km south of Casselman. Two more days to air conditioning. https://flic.kr/p/2jdBNB4

RRR Ranch

Image
June 18, 2020. This photo was taken the day after it was taken. On Thursday after work I stopped on my bike ride to St. Albert and lined up this shot, but just as I was about to take it a white car pulled up and parked right in the gateway. So I had to wait until tomorrow to take today's photo. Here it is - same scene, same time of day, same weather, same everything. https://flic.kr/p/2jdxDo8

Nation River Valley

Image
June 17, 2020 - Compensating for a full weekend worked, I took a day off and went cycling in the 32C heat, visiting the Nation River valley, Vars and Russell, 73km total. Still no air conditioning (four attempted sleeps to go). https://flic.kr/p/2jd3r9u

Tattoo

Image
June 16, 2020. I don't have any tattoos, but if I were to ever get one, it would be this. Tuesdays are meeting days and that's what my day was today, plus reading for OLDaily. https://flic.kr/p/2jd47VK

River Farm

Image
June 15, 2020. This is the first photo of the day in almost a week because last week there were no photos, no bike rides, nothing but ethical codes. Now I'm re-emerging into the world again, starting today with some meetings and a 25km ride to St. Albert. This farm is on the Nation River, just outside Casselman. https://flic.kr/p/2jcj3sT

Forest Creek

June 9, 2020. Good productive day even though there were meetings. I have content organized, I just need to convert it into text, and I have my paper. After work I took a nice brisk bike ride (25km @ 23.2 kph) to St. Albert and back. https://flic.kr/p/2jaqPQv

Raspberry Flowers

Image
June 8, 2020. I worked all day on the ethics paper, finally realizing it wasn't going to be done on time. I have so much stuff, and so little time. So I checked my mail just in time to be pulled into a meeting. That kind of day. Still no air conditioning. These are raspberry flowers on the front lawn. https://flic.kr/p/2ja45hC

Chrysler Pond

Image
June 7, 2020. I spent the morning working on ethics codes (paper is due tomorrow) and the afternoon cycling to the village of Finch (where I ate my first hamburger in three months) and back. This is a pond just outside Chrysler, on the way to Finch. 58km at 20.5 kph. https://flic.kr/p/2j9MgTy

Fleabane

Image
June 6, 2020. This is some Philadelphia fleabane growing next to our driveway. I spent a full day working on ethical codes today, working my way through various codes for teachers. Back on the bike tomorrow. https://flic.kr/p/2j9pwwT

Springhill

Image
June 5, 2020. It was a beautiful day so I cycled 70km to Springhill Cemetary and back to visit my brother Allan . I wasn't actually able to find his marker, though, which I choose to take as a good sign. Managed to average 20.8 kph for the ride there and back. Right now, the kittens are enjoying their first-ever thunderstorm (by hiding in the basement). https://flic.kr/p/2j99ywn

Fern

June 4, 2020. Another three-meeting day. But I still made quite a bit of progress on the ethics paper. I intended to get out for a bike ride this afternoon, but when I looked up from my work the time had passed. Tomorrow, though, will be beautiful out, and I'm taking the day. https://flic.kr/p/2j8QNGc

Dogwood

Image
June 2, 2020. It was a Day of Three Meetings, with some works on the ethics paper sandwiched in between. Cool and rainy today, so no cycling. This is a dogwood growing beside the deck in the back yard. https://flic.kr/p/2j8d1Sd

St. Albert

Image
June 1, 2020. View of St. Albert from the bridge. Today was split between taking an ISC evaluators' course, and working on ethics cides. I also took time to write a quick blog post. This is from my ride after work to St. Alberta and back, 24.7 km at an average speed of 22.4 kph (best speed of the year, made me happy). https://flic.kr/p/2j7WMhx

Grass

Image
May 31, 2020. Cold, rainy, and an indoor day, spend in its entirely working (and specifically, getting posts ready for my newsletter, because I will need to spend time on my ethics paper, because I had a proposal accepted and the full paper is due June 8). This is grass in our back yard. https://flic.kr/p/2j7WFjq

Forest

Image
May 30, 2020. In my mind I always think of Larose Forest as 'the Emerald Forest'. This is a view of it as I cycled by on the way to Embrun to check in on family (family wasn't home but their house is doing fine). Good ride today, enjoyable. https://flic.kr/p/2j7Y5X6
