October 18, 2026. Forest Valley. We went for our Sunday walk today in a chunk of forest sandwiched between the RCMP training grounds and Orleans. There's no real parking and no good way to get there, so it's pretty quiet. I took the opportunity to get a new high quality photo, thanks to Andrea. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/ycHfwl4

October 17, 2026. Sherwood Forest Mug. It has been a number of years since I went on a memorable trip to Nottingham, and I made sure to take a side trip (by local bus) to Sherwood Forest, where I went on a long hike and bought this mug. On the same trip I also visited Newark Castle as well as Lincoln during a steampunk festival. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/FMa5OtQ

October 15, 2026. Chipmunk. We took what might be the last nice fall day and spent it hiking in Gatineau Park, just north of Ottawa. The trees were in great form, it was a little cool (but warm after climbing 250 m) and the sky was a bright clear blue. #SDDaily #forest #photography. URL: https://ift.tt/R8hsvHE

October 14, 2026. Local Democracy. This was the view on YouTube for the local candidates forum - there was a pretty good turnout in person and online. Sound quality wasn't great, though. But it gave me a really good feel for the dynamics of the election. Three hours well spent. #SDDaily #Casselman #democracy. URL: https://ift.tt/Wz8Vbut

October 13, 2926. Into Fall. This is the back yard now as all the leaves are turning colours and the weather is cool and gray and rainy. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/p5VsYog

October 12, 2026. Bar end. This is the curtain holder in our bedroom. It wasn't fastened very securely. We had a quiet Thanksgiving, with turkey chili and pumpkin pie. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/Zwcomx1

October 11, 2026. Trappers Park. Scene from an unnamed forest behind Trappers Park, wedged in between Blossom Park and the LRT. It's some of the nicest forest we've seen; it's our first visit here but it won't our last. #SDDaily #photography. URL: https://ift.tt/kyHx0Gz

October 9, 2026. High Falls. This is a little park along the Nation River in Casselman, viewed as I wait for roadwork being done on the bridge. Just a short trip to Metro today; I was a bit under the weather this morning. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/qsyFjWL

October 8, 2026. Pumpkin Pie. Costco was completely sold out of turkey (except for whole frozen turkeys, which is a bit much for the two of us) but their famous pumpkin pies were in stock and, well, it's tradition. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/AQgyW3J

October 7, 2026. Chinese Stamps. These are from my recently arrived copy of the Open Learning Journal, published in China, in which I had an article. Today and yesterday I attended the online FediForum. I would attend more online conferences, but I can't afford them, not even the ones on open learning #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/6vK2g9y
Mer Bleue, Ottawa
October 4, 2026. Forest path. I've been busy playing in the internet and not posting daily photos. Tsk. But this is from our walk Sunday in the Mer Bleue forest. https://flic.kr/p/2sEXkKT October 4, 2026 at 09:51AM
