January 30, 2026. From above. This is a grove of trees I see from my office on the third floor. It's so evident that the whole NRC complex was designed for a different era. There would have been many more people working in these buildings as many secretaries and staff as researchers, and things like the picnic tables and baseball diamond would be used, not sitting empty. Each building had its own cafeteria. It was an era of paper and memos and urgent meetings and camraderie. No more. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/pBKETQb
January 29, 2026. Trying to improve my photography skills skill, getting the clearest and sharpest photo I can (even though it's short from behind a dirty window). I actually don't mind the squirrels eating the bird seed; they need to live too. https://flic.kr/p/2rUaZ4z January 29, 2026 at 06:21AM
January 26, 2026. Snow Dump. Most of the snow happened overnight, but I still worked from home. I'm still migrating my web sites to the new VPS. I want to set up the archive so it's as cheap to maintain as possible. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/BrcLsne
January 25, 2026. Lights. This is a detail from the light in my office at home, where I spent the day working on setting up my new VPS (all lavishly documented on Youtube, the world's most boring videos). #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/orN8Su4
January 23, 2026. Mounted police. I want to the Canadian Tire to buy bird seed over lunch and just happened to spot these mounted police just making their way through the parking lot. Presumably they were taking advantage of the freezing weather to get some training in. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/HUygIcC
January 22, 2026. Boot Brush. It always amazes me how we combine a high-tech information age society with the most simple tools, in this case, the boot brush at the office. Another day driving home through snowstorms; it gets old fast. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/E6c7FQy
January 21, 2026. Dim Sun. I'm in the city early for a medical appointment (nothing serious). It's a cold morning with low haze. Snow is forecast. I'll be working in the office this afternoon helping with a research ethics board review. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/87khTIY
January 20, 2026. Temptations. This is the snack display at Starbucks. I'm pondering the use of colour and design to tempt people into impulse buys. I did not buy any of these. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/Z704Fcl
January 18, 2026. Woodpecker. We went snowshoeing in the woods today - it was a beautiful sunny day just a few degrees below zero. The birds were out in full force. So were the skiers and other snowshoers. #SDDaily #photography. URL: https://ift.tt/WbPj4lN
January 17, 2026. Cardinal and Junco. Just another snowy eastern Ontario winter day with birds settling in on the feeder. Doing a Costco run this morning then getting some work done in the afternoon. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/ALzbdP1
January 16, 2026. Batteries. At the drug store to pick up some meds and find a blood pressure monitor. Another office day, unusually productive. Also scoped out induction stoves at Best Buy. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/odyMqGT
January 13, 2026. Lenses. Working from the home office today. These are a few camera lenses I use on a regular basis. The 50mm is maybe the highest quality I own but it's unfortunately heavy. Anyhow, I started on my VPS video series today as I restructure my online presence. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/KGq0Rzh
January 9, 2025. Mourning Doves. No idea why the camera couldn't put the obvious object of my photo into focus, but there it is. Today was another office day and I got some evaluations off my desk. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/HybtI0g
January 8, 2026. Elevator. Another day in the office, which these days resembles The Big Bang Theory with the elevator closed indefinitely. Oh well, the stairs are probably good for me. But it's not what I expected when people asked management to restore the exercise facility that was closed during Covid. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/l9cAMZU
January 7, 2026. Factory. Another day at the office. I still can't help but be fascinated by the industrial-like surroundings I find myself in. It's like the opposite of academia. Of course, I feel like a fish out of water when I'm at a university as well. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/Pj4hsyM
January 6, 2026. Ricolas. The CPAP user's best friend. Also a way to get a photo after another indoor day in the depths of winter. Gotta get out more. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/F34it02
January 3, 2026. Curry. This is my curry sauce - garlic, onions, tomatoes, chives, hot peppers, spices - before I put in the bulkier ingredients - eggplant, carrots, mushrooms. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/Sg2f0Yr
January 2, 2026. Waiting for the train in Casselman on the way home from Costco. We both liked all the red lights in the dim afternoon light. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/ICdpByq
December 31, 2025. New Years Eve bonus pics. I caught Char and Julia napping in the bedroom. And I caught this chonk woodpecker at the feeder. It's almost certainly a female hairy woodpecker, judging by the size and markings. We went into the city today and Andrea got a set of pots while I got a pair of heated gloves. #SDDaily. December 30, 2025. A Moving Cat. Another indoor day as the weather is a bit off. Enjoying the break. Tried to photograph Charlemagne but he wouldn't keep still. #SDDaily. URL: https://ift.tt/xPDv9R0
