Ducks
April 20, 2024. Ducks in the swamp in Monaghan Forest, in south-west Ottawa near Fallowfield. We went there for our hike today. It was nice, still very early spring conditions. A lot of it was still flooded. https://flic.kr/p/2qYScGg
Creek
April 19, 2025. Small creet where it crosses the back road just north of St. Albert. The turquoise water is a sure sign it's all snow melt. Went for a 25 km ride today - planned to go further, but found I just didn't have the energy to battle the strong wind more than 10 km. Typical April cycling. https://flic.kr/p/2qYFUGY
Supper
March 29, 2025. This is a typical supper for me. Salmon with kumatos, scallions, and my home-made curry (garlic, oil, peppers, spices, onions, tomatoes, carrots, mushrooms, eggplant, rutabaga). The asparagus is extra, because we got it in our OddBunch shipment this week. https://flic.kr/p/2qYDwWs
Warm Front
April 18, 2025. The sky put on a show today as I went out for my fourth ride of the year, a 40 km jaunt to St. Isadore and back. This was along Concession Road 19 near Ste. Rose. It was a bit cool with a light rain. https://flic.kr/p/2qYy8uR
Lime Kiln Trail
April 13, 2025. A stretch of boardwalk on the Lime Kiln train where we went for our Sunday hike. The trail is in the west end, just off Moodie Drive. It's a rocky area alternating between swamp and cedar forest, and was the victim of a forest fire in 2012 (hence all the dead trees in one part of it). Beautiful spring day. https://flic.kr/p/2qXAKZ6
Crysler Pond
April 12, 2025. Little swampy pond just north of the village of Crysler. Git out for a 37 km ride today on a cool day with a brisk wind. Not bad for my second ride of the year, but I look forward to being in better shape for some longer rides. https://flic.kr/p/2qXonqR
Julia at the Vet
April 11, 2025. We took Julia to the vet at noon today for her annual checkup. Normally we would take her with the other cats, but she was well entrenched under the bed and not budging, so we had to reschedule. All is fine with the cats, and they've had their vaccines updated. Bike Ride
April 7, 2025. It was still a bit cold but I managed to get out for my first bike ride of the season. Thanks to winter work on the trainer I had no difficulty cycling 25 km, just need to figure out how to keep my head warm.
