May 28, 2020. More record-breaking heat, and our 13-year old air conditioning unit has died and has to be replaced. These pandemic days have been really hard - not on us, but on our house, which for some reason has chosen these few months to show the signs of wear. https://flic.kr/p/2j6zYW9

May 26, 2020. The incredible heat wave continues. I made it out for a 25K ride in 33C heat. Today was otherwise planning and meeting day - I had sessions on Zoom, Teams and Meet. A multi-tool day. https://flic.kr/p/2j6CsKj

May 25, 2020. These are growing in our back yard. It was a bit cooler today so I took a rest day from cycling and focused on work - including exploring Deno and reading papers. https://flic.kr/p/2j5HS2S

April 24, 2020. This is a frog I saved from being squashed by traffic by herding it from the road to a nearby wetland. Today's ride felt tougher even though it was only 55 km, but then I found I did it at a pace of 19.4 kph which explains that. May 23, 2020. I had a nice bounceback day today, cleaning my office to fight back against allergies, and doing a nice 66 km ride to Dunvegan (and a bit beyond) and back. May 21, 2020. Detail of a maple tree in our back yard. Beautiful day today, but with Emma getting The Operation and our getting groceries, there was no time for cycling after work. May 19, 2020. I was still feeling a little under the weather but I convinced myself to take a brisk 24km ride after work and I felt a lot better after. May 18, 2020. I woke up still and sore from biking, took a pain pill and a nap and ended up with a sore stomach that felt like heartburn. May 15, 2020. Cool and rainy today, nice for birds, less so for me. My new microphone arrived, so now I have good audio again. May 10, 2020. It wasn't snowing today so I was able to go for a bike ride. I took the gravel bike onto some new (to me) back roads and was rewarded with a wealth of early spring forest wildflowers. A I finished the Tri-Council Research Ethics course today. https://flic.kr/p/2iZLJBz

May 9, 2020. I was up at 6 this morning to greet Adam from Velofix who came out in his mobile bicycle repair shop to do the annual tune-up for my bicycles. This is Lexi, also at 6, standing guard in the kitten fort and making sure kittens don't get extra attention. May 8, 2020. This is Charlemagne. He had The Operation yesterday, and has been recovering for the last 24 hours. For myself, today was doctor appointment day, which was done over the phone. The weather was cold and miserable, with snow, so there was no cycling. https://flic.kr/p/2iZaY6Z

May 7, 2020. Today the Canadian precision flight team called the Snowbirds flew by Casselman as part of their cross-Canada morale-boosting tour. Do you see that tiny dot with the stream behind it? No, that's not it, it's a kite. But below that, do you see the five dots in formation? No, not that either, they're birds. And that was our fly-by. Clouds and, well, that's it. Oh. May 2, 2020. I had a great day today. In the morning I wrote a big new chunk of my ethics book. In the afternoon it was a 40 km ride on the gravel bike over gravel, dirt, mud, etc., in the east Larose forest (it doesn't appear on maps, but it's a bug stretch of Larose east of the Nation River). https://flic.kr/p/2iWPM1b
