Larry Cooperman
December 1, 2014. Settling into Berlin. I had the opportunity this evening to have a nice conversation with Larry Cooperman, Associate Dean for Open Education at UC Irvine and director of the Open Courseware Consortium. One question I asked him: do you think there is a danger of the United States "swamping" all the international efforts to develop open learning (by means of university systems with strong connections and adept fundraising departments)? We also talked about whether what people need is 'an education' or whether they need to be able to learn. And the impact of existing systems of education in perpetuating a world of eemployers and employees. Fun talk.
