Camomile

Image
December 31, 2016. We went back to Montreal again today to pick up something we left behind in one of the stores. It wasn't easy driving today, as there was snow and the highways were messy. But back safe and sound, it's good to have done it.

Angel

Image
Decebember 30, 2016. Montreal. We spent the day there and back, doing some holiday shopping. This is the former Erskine And American United Church on Sherbrooke Street, now a part of the Museum of Fine Arts complex.

A Splash of Colour

Image
December 29, 2016. Snow again today, so I spent the day inside writing and working. These flags can be viewed from my back window. The red one is, of course, the Canadian flag. The green and white flag is Franco-Ontarian.

Nation View Farm

Image
December 28, 2016. I was in the city today for a meeting, then to get a CPAP part, then to get some Sim cards. On the way home I stopped in town to take a photo - in this case, a farm overlooking the Nation at the south side of town.

Water Tower

Image
December 27, 2016. Walked past the 'Do Not Enter' sign to get a photo of the tracks that run alongside our house. This is looking back on the town of Casselman. You won't know it just to look at it, but there are signs of the constrction of a new sewer system and an access toad to a new subdivision. Accomplishments: - Beat Civ VI at prince level on a Huge map. Four days of effort.

Ice Day

Image
December 26, 2016. We had precipitation varying from frain to ice pellets to freezing rain to whatever. It was a good day to stay indoors.

An 1890s Christmas

Image
December 25, 2016. I wouldn't resist the urge to play with this portrait a bit as I pose with my mother and my brother. As you can see, our family is one that breaks easily into a bright broad smile.

Kumquats

Image
December 24, 2016. 'Tis the season of tiny oranges, and the kumquat is the tiniest of all. First spin on the new bike today, being careful because it has been a while and because my ankle is still bad. It felt good, though, to be back at it.

Spinner

Image
December 23, 2016. This is our new spinner. Our previous two wore out, but this one will last a lot longer. It's the sort of bike I used when I was taking spin classes in Moncton. Andrea assembled it.

Morning Snow

Image
December 22, 2016. Another photo outside my home office window (which is a never-ending range of possibilities). This is the snowfall that greeted us this morning.

Alex and Pencils

Image
December 21, 2016. Continuing with my practice with RAW and Lightroom, this is a portrait of Alex sitting on the table in front of my computer. Accomplishments: - entered time recording data

Beez

Image
December 20, 2016. I was back at the Candian School of Public Service for an all-morning meeting, and then headed to Bobby's Table on Montreal Road for a nice smoked meat lunch. This is across the road from them, on the wall of a pawn shop (it's not exactly an upscale area of the city, so I feel at home).

The Essence of Polly

Image
December 19, 2016. Back in the office today. Quet but generally productive. Back home, still working on my photograhy skills with RAW and Lightroom. Accomplishments: - created 'My Workflow' diagram - created a ZeroNet discussion room - Posted Lebanon conference summary

The Horse and the Palm Tree

Image
December 18, 2016. Another weekend snow day, another day spent doing office work. The horse was a gift from my visit to Saudi Arabia, the palm tree was from Moncton. The combination reminds me of a photo I took ages ago on the Sunshine Coast in Australia, which I used to think of learning resources as interacting objects in an environment, not designed for each other, but possessing the right affordances to enable them to interact.

Problem Exists Between Human and Income

Image
December 17, 2016. Snow day on a weekend so I stayed inside all day and worked on my landscape document. Of course, I was subject to regular interruptions from Alex, who would plant himself right in front of my keyboard.

Lights

Image
December 15, 2016. Busy day. Taking this picture of the lights in our dining room was the last thing I did in the evening. The lights are all LEDs. We've pretty much converted everything.

Wating for Spring

Image
December 14, 2016. There's nothing worse than an early winter. Went to the dentist this morning, then took at drive at lunch time looking for a photo - and found it up by LaRose forest. Accomlishments: - wrote On Teaching Critical Thinking

On a Rail

Image
December 13, 2016. Working the RAW+Lightroom combination, this time trying to draw out everything I can from this poorly lit photo of Lexi doing her balancing act on the stairwell railings. Ordinary day in the office - LTSC meeting in the morning, argument with management in the afternoon.

Sheds

Image
December 12, 2016. Still messing around with RAW and Lightroom. These are sheds in our back yard. We don't store anything in them; they came with the house. As you can see, we had a lot of snow today.

Winter Grass

Image
December 10, 2016. We were at the St. Laurant mall today, outside of which I shot this grass in the sunlight. Saw 'Arrival' later in the afternoon - pretty good, though we both felt they could have worked more on the ending.

2016 A Space Odyssey

Image
December 9, 2016. Normally I'm a stickler for photo realism, but I really liked the way this overexposed shot looked (and anyway, the person in the centre of the photo isn't overexposed). Quiet day today, puttering with my landscape document, working on distributed social networks (GNUsocial, Quitter, Mastodon and doing a little writing. Accomplishments: - short essay on 2016 trends)

Shopping Carts

Image
December 8, 2016. This is what it looks like after work these days as I load my shopping cart at Costco. Fairly productive day today marked mostly by a declining email stack.

Waiting Room

Image
December 7, 2016. This 1970s ambiance is the waiting room at the family health centre at Riverside Hospital, which is where I was today for a routine visit. The wait was quite minimal, and the reception at our new family doctor everything we would hope for. And the out-of-pocket cost for this was, of course, zero. Canadian health care FTW.

The Fog Rolls In

Image
December 6, 2016. Snow, cold and open water from the nearby river produce fog. It didn't quite make it to our back yard. Still limping around on a bad ankle. Accomplishments: - online seminar this evening (still ahead as I write this)

Santa Run

Image
December 4, 2016. Back in Casselman just in time for the Festival du Noel. This is the Santa run, which started off this Sunday morning.

De-Icing

Image
December 3, 2016. En Route from Berlin to Montreal via Frankfurt, its airport viewed here, its de-icing service in operation lifting the frost off the wing. On the flight home I watched all eight episodes of BBC's War and Peace , which was teriffic.

Bulbs

Image
December 2, 2016. Worked the conference today, including a panel presentation, and took time for a short errand at the market. Accomplishments: - visited every booth at the conference & got a lot of material for my environmental scan - posted all of my Berlin presentations

Occupied

Image
December 1, 2016. At the Occupied party at Online Educa Berlin. No talks today so I've enjoyed the role of conferencier Still got a lot done - attended some sessions, worked the trade show.

Standing Room Only

Image
November 30, 2016. This is the audience for my talk at Cornelsen Publishing in Berlin. I gave this talk in the morning, then delivered a personal learning environment design workshop in the afternoon. Still limping pretty badly.
