A Plethora of Puffballs

September 9, 2016. I thought at first I had a multitude of mushrooms, but my online reserach reveals them to be gem-studded puffballs (Lycoperdon perlatum). This healthy crop was observed on the path through the little wooded area next to NRC. These are apparently edible when young like this, though I would definitely not eat mushrooms I found growing in the woods.
